'Green card holders lied': Four aliens charged in New Jersey with voting illegally in federal election

Four foreign nationals have been charged in New Jersey with voting illegally in a US federal election and making false statements on citizenship applications.US Attorney Robert Fraser announced that David Newley, 73 years old, from Atlantic County; Jacinth Biddle Exum, 70, of Bergen County; Aidan Schurich, 43, of Monmouth County; and Abhinandan Vij, 33, also from Monmouth County, were all resident aliens at the time they registered to vote.

Each falsely claimed to be a US citizen on voter registration forms, a legal requirement to participate in federal elections.According to the complaints, Newley voted in the 2020 and 2024 general elections, Beadle Exum and Vig voted in 2020, and Chorich voted in the 2022 elections, which included races for the U.S. House of Representatives.Authorities also allege that after voting, all four later applied for U.S. citizenship using Form N-400, on which they swore they had never registered or voted in a federal election.“This administration will not tolerate aliens trying to vote in our elections when they know they are ineligible,” Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said.“As alleged, green card holders lied in order to register to vote, then lied again to immigration authorities by falsely claiming they had never voted in a federal election,” he added.Newley faces charges of voting for foreigners and making false statements in naturalization matters.

Čorish is charged with voting by an alien, unlawful acquisition of citizenship or naturalization, and making false statements. Figg is charged with unlawful acquisition of citizenship or naturalization, while Beadle Exum faces two counts of false statements in connection with naturalization.“Noncitizen voting is a federal crime — period — and while other administrations may have looked the other way in the past, those days are over,” FBI Director Kash Patel said. “We continue to work around the clock with our interagency partners to ensure that those who engage in such behavior do not go unpunished.”
