The blast occurred in a forest area under the limits of Chotipithiya police station near Narayanpur district border.

The DRG team was carrying out an operation to trace and defuse the IEDs allegedly planted by the Naxalites earlier. According to the police, three policemen were exposed to explosive devices during the operation and were injured.

Necessary arrangements have been made to provide them with appropriate medical treatment.

This was the first explosion incident linked to Naxalite activity since the state was declared liberated from armed Maoists on March 31.
