Greta Gerwig’s long-awaited film ‘Narnia’ has been postponed! The film, officially titled “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew,” has been pushed back to a new theatrical release date of February 12, 2027, reports said Saturday.
The change in the film’s theatrical premiere also pushed the OTT release by a month, making it ready for an April release.

The highly anticipated fantasy adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ beloved novel will debut in theaters worldwide on the new date, with IMAX express previews scheduled to begin on February 10, 2027, People reports. After its theatrical release, the film will stream on Netflix starting April 2, 2027.

Serving as a prequel to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the story is set 1,000 years ago and explores the creation of Narnia by the lion Aslan.
The project represents a new attempt to bring the famous book series back to the big screen, after the success of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”, “Prince Caspian” and “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”.Gerwig shared a personal connection to the book and said in a statement: “I was a child when I first read The Wizard’s Nephew, and I fell in love with the improbable but utterly wonderful concept of a cosmic lion singing the world of Narnia to life.”

The film features a star-studded cast, including Meryl Streep, Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, Emma Mackie and Denis Gough, alongside Kieran Hinds, Susan Wokoma, David McKenna, Beatrice Campbell and Cobna Holdbrook-Smith.
“Narnia” collides with “Nagzilla”
The film will release on February 12 in a clash with Bollywood film ‘Negzilla’, starring Kartik Aaryan in the lead. The film, directed by Mrigdeep Singh Lamba, has also had its release date changed from August 2026 to February 12, 2027.This will be another big clash between Bollywood and Hollywood at the box office, after a series of such clashes. It remains to be seen whether either will pull out of the box office battle over Valentine’s Day weekend.
