Ranveer Singh is currently getting a lot of love for his portrayal of Hamza and Jaskirat in the ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise. However, the actor also made a lasting impression with his intense portrayal of Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In a recent conversation, Nikunj Biyani, Ranveer’s business partner and co-founder of SuperYou, spoke about the sheer power of Ranveer’s performance, revealing that the role of Hamza pushed the actor further than Khilji.Praising the film, Nikunj said in an interview with MensXP, “I saw Dhurandhar on the first day, the premiere of both films. I loved it. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, for me, was the best film ever. I enjoyed the first part too, but the second part was something else. I didn’t want to get out of my seat even to pee. I was like, I won’t even blink – just look at him, he’s crazy.”He also recalled a conversation with Ranveer about the demands of the role, saying, “We were talking to him once, and asked him if he would do something as demanding as Khilji.
He said: This character (Hamza) was more challenging for me as an artist; It took a lot from me. I had to dig deeper and give 300% of my effort; It was very demanding. And when you see it, you wonder, what is this? He’s proven to be the GOAT.
“It’s true, he’s crazy.”Interestingly, when he opposite Ranveer Khilji in ‘Padmaavat’, he went to great lengths to embody the character, including isolating himself for 21 days and plunging into a dark mental space.
