As reported by The New Indian Express, director Subhash Ghai shared an interesting anecdote about Sanjay’s casting in Khalnayak. “When I started working in Khalnayak, word spread in the industry. Many stars met me and expressed interest in doing the film. But I told them, ‘I already have an actor in mind.’ I called Sanju and he narrated the story. He told me, ‘Sir, I trust you.’ We’re making this movie.”The film became one of the defining releases of the 1990s.

The idea for “Khalnayak 2” comes from his prison days

I asked them: ‘Agar Khalnayak phir sebanaye, toh kaun dekhna chahega?’ (If Khalnayak is remade, who wants to see it).”
All four thousand prisoners said in unison that they would like to see him.
I told them, “Send me a one-page idea for the movie.” It took me a long time to read 4000 pages! One of the ideas I received I liked.”Dutt also added, “I was out on parole and called Mr. Subhash Ghai. I narrated this idea to him. Subhash Ghai was also excited and said ‘build an appetite’.”Sanjay Dutt was recently seen in Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
