A 32-year-old man was assaulted and seriously injured after his hands were cut off with a grinder over a payment dispute in Delhi’s Vijay Enclave area, officials said.
According to the police, a PCR call was received on 24.04.2026 at around 08:30 PM informing that a man was assaulted and his hands were allegedly cut off using a grinder by known persons at Vijay Enclave in Dhabri.

The police reached the spot and found the injured Lokesh Gupta, a halwa and Khayyam service provider, resident of Vijay Enclave, Dabri, who was seriously injured.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused Ajay Pal, also known as Bela, had hired the services of a tent from the victim to attend his daughter’s wedding which was held on 04.20.2026 for an amount of Rs. $2.5 lakh. Of the total amount, around $2 lakh is still pending.

When the victim went to the accused to collect the remaining amount, Ajay Pal, along with 2-3 of his colleagues, allegedly attacked him and tried to cut his hands using a grinder, the police said.

The affected person was initially taken to Rashi Medical Center and later referred to AIIMS for advanced treatment.
Police said evidence was collected from the scene and the victim’s statement was recorded. The medical examination confirmed serious injuries caused by a sharp weapon.
Accordingly, a case under Sections 118(2)/127(2)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Dabri Police Station.
The accused, Ajay Pal, 53, has been arrested, while two juveniles involved in the incident have been arrested, police said.
Further investigation is underway.
