An 18-year-old has been extradited from Dubai for the murder of a woman who was found dead in her London home

An 18-year-old from Dubai has been extradited to the UK and charged with the murder of 27-year-old Kammonan Thiamphanit, also known as Angela, in a case that shocked Westminster in 2024.Police said Enzo Betameo was brought back on Friday and formally charged upon arrival. He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

The victim was found with multiple stab wounds

Thiamphanette was found dead at her home in Stanhope Place near Hyde Park on April 8, 2024, after officers forcefully entered the house. According to the Metropolitan Police, she suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.The BBC reported that Betamio was extradited from the United Arab Emirates after coordinated efforts between investigators and prosecutors.The police confirmed that the victim’s family has been informed and is still receiving support from specialized officers.The Metropolitan Police previously referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct after it emerged that Thiamvanette’s friends had contacted authorities twice the day before to find her body.The case was initially treated as a medium-risk missing persons investigation.

Victim’s background

Thiamphanit, who holds dual Chinese, Hong Kong and Thai citizenship, had been living in the UK for nearly nine years after moving there to study at university.

She worked in property management and was described by police as having a wide circle of friends.Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the case, acknowledged the family’s patience, describing the period following the accident as “incredibly difficult and traumatic”. Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing while the case continues before the courts.
