“Jersey Shore” star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has revealed that she will undergo a hysterectomy after being diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer at the age of 38.
Snooki reveals Diagnosis of cervical cancer
The reality TV star shared her diagnosis earlier this year. In a video shared on social media in January, Polizzi detailed the moment she learned of the cancerous cells after further testing, including a colposcopy and biopsy.
“The results are coming back,” she said. “The doctor calls me and says, ‘It doesn’t look great.’ He found cancer cells at the top of my cervix.”“I would just love for the community of moms who have accomplished this and are dealing with this to comment below. So we have a community of us who are scared and dealing with this to be there for each other, because being a woman is not easy, and this is definitely a scary thing. And I know I’ll be okay.”
“It’s just…it’s scary,” she said in the post.
Snooki reacts to cancer diagnosis
“I had a breakdown,” she said, recalling the moment she received the news. “I got to my car and called my mom crying hysterically, thinking the worst.”After further tests have since been carried out, the diagnosis has confirmed that the cancer has not spread. Doctors have advised a hysterectomy in the coming months, after which no additional treatment is expected to be needed. “It’s not the worst case and I can still handle it. I’ll be fine,” Polizzi said.
