The 22-year-old IIT graduate was aspiring to UPSC She was brutally raped and murdered at her south Delhi residence on Wednesday. The suspect, a former domestic employee, allegedly carried out a series of planned crimes across states and attempted to use the victim’s fingerprints to open the family safe during a burglary.
The accused is 23 years old Rahul Meena was very familiar with the family routine. Investigators revealed that Meena was fired from his job at the upscale Kailash Hills residence two months ago due to his habit of borrowing money from neighbors to finance his gambling addiction.

That morning, Meena waited for the victim’s parents, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) employee and a dentist, to leave for her daily gym session. He has come to know the family’s “vulnerability.” A hidden smart key was kept near a shoe rack and he entered the fourth floor apartment at 6:39 am.
CCTV footage later showed him in the area around 6:30am and leaving around 7:15am. He spent approximately 40 minutes inside.
She was strangled with a cable and raped while unconscious

Autopsy on The All India Institute of Medical Sciences found that the victim died of suffocation after a violent assault. She had cuts to her arms, hands and legs, multiple injuries to her face, including a broken nose, and extensive damage to her neck, including a fractured thyroid cartilage. Doctors said she suffered widespread shock.
Another rape hours ago
Hours earlier, on Tuesday evening, Mina allegedly… He raped the wife of his acquaintance in Alwar, Rajasthan. He then reportedly hid on a hill called Kali Pahari for more than two hours to avoid angry villagers.
He later stole a bike, broke into a wedding party around 1 a.m. to get food, took a lift on a motorcycle to get to the highway, then rented a truck around 2 a.m., investigators said.
He reached Delhi around 5:30 am. Police added that he sold a mobile phone for $10,000 to finance the trip, leaving the truck driver without paying.

The accused was arrested from a hotel in Dwarka at around 8 pm on Wednesday. when Before the Saket court, he told the judge that he committed the crime for money and needed the victim’s fingerprint to open the safe.

The court made clear that the statements would not be treated as an official confession.
Magistrate Dipika Thakran described the allegations as an “exceptionally serious and brutal crime” and ordered her to be detained for four days in police custody for further investigation.
The police booked Meena under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on charges of rape, murder and robbery.
