The Ministry of External Affairs has avoided directly responding to US President Donald Trump’s “hell” repost on social media in reference to India and China, with its spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal just saying they have “seen some reports”.

“We’ve seen some reports. That’s where I leave it,” Jaiswal said while responding to a question about Trump’s remarks.

It comes after Trump posted on Truth Social on Wednesday (local time) a transcript from a conservative talk show hosted by Michael Savage. On the show, Savage was talking about birthright American citizenship, and said that people arrive in the United States late in pregnancy and automatically obtain citizenship for their children. He said these people later bring in their family members from countries including India and China, which he referred to as “another hell on this planet.”
