Congress general secretary KC Venugopal expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, saying he was “pained to hear the scale of devastation” and extended his condolences to the bereaved families.

“I was shocked to hear the news of the explosion at the fireworks warehouse in Thrissur, which occurred just a few days before the Pooram. It pains me to hear of the death of at least six people, and it makes me completely numb to hear about the extent of the devastation. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families in this time of grief. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims. The government must deploy all possible means for rescue operations, and all the injured must be provided with necessary medical attention as soon as possible,” Venugopal said.

Meanwhile, Kerala Health Minister Veena George directed to ensure specialized medical care for those injured in the explosion. The Minister directed the Thrissur Medical College to make all necessary arrangements for their treatment and ordered deployment of sufficient number of ambulances, including Kanivo 108 units, to the site.
