The accused was taken into custody and preliminary investigation revealed that the murder was pre-planned and was motivated by anger over neglect in the relationship. “The accused woman was detained and interrogated. It was proven that she set her lover on fire.”

Here are disturbing details of the case:

  • When did the incident happen? The incident took place on Tuesday at around 10 am at Prerana’s house in Ajanapura, when her mother and brother were not at home and she called Kiran.
  • How did the murder unfold? After talking for a while, Prerana allegedly started blindfolding him and tying his hands and legs tightly to a chair. When he asked her why she was restricting him so tightly, she reassured him: “This is a foreign-style proposal, just stay calm.” Kieran trusted her, perhaps expecting a romantic surprise, and she didn’t resist.
  • What followed was something he could never have predicted. Prerna poured petrol on him and set him on fire. Kieran, who was tied up and unable to move, had no chance of escape and died instantly.
  • What led to the murder? The motive is that the two have been in a relationship for nearly a year and work together in a telecommunications company. Police say tensions were rising, with Prerana allegedly upset over Kiran ignoring her and refusing to marry.
  • What does the accused claim? In her initial statement, Prerna claimed that she was in the bathroom when she heard a noise, and when she came out, she found Kiran on fire. However, this version quickly collapsed under investigation. CCTV footage and preliminary results revealed that Kiran did not bring any fuel with him.
  • What do the police say? Police suspect that the gasoline was arranged in advance, clearly indicating premeditation. The officer said: “There is strong suspicion that the accused had arranged the gasoline in advance. This indicates premeditation.”
  • The police also revealed that the accused recorded the entire act on her mobile phone. He added: “Even when the victim was burning, she continued recording the video. This aspect shows the brutality of the crime.”
  • Prerana is taken into police custody. Officials say it has been proven that she set her partner on fire, and further investigations are underway to decipher the sequence of events and motive in detail. The officer added: “The accused woman was detained and interrogated. It was proven that she set her lover on fire. The motive behind this act appears to be anger at the neglect in the relationship.”
