Vaneet Kaur Chadha has been suspended for 5 years
An Indian migration agent has been banned in Australia for five years after authorities found she provided false information in visa applications and violated several professional rules, The Noterer reports.
Vaneet Kaur Chadha worked with Sydney-based Royal Migration & Education Consultants and had her registration revoked last month following an investigation by the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority. The regulator said it launched an investigation after reviewing visa applications submitted by Chad to the Department of Home Affairs, where officials identified a number of concerns.OMARA said in its findings that Chadha “failed to act in accordance with the law” by not declaring the immigration assistance it provided to clients.
She was also found to have provided false and misleading information and made statements on visa applications that she knew were inaccurate. The Authority also concluded that it had engaged in misleading online advertising, indicated that it had a relationship with the Dubai Health Authority when it did not, and failed to properly supervise staff. She was also found to have allowed someone within her business to illegally provide immigration-related assistance.
Investigators said Chadha did not meet professional standards, including failing to “take all reasonable steps to maintain the reputation and integrity of the immigration consulting profession.” The ruling added that she acted “in a manner intended to defeat the purpose of immigration law and acted in a manner intended to evade the requirements of immigration law.”O’Mara ultimately ruled that Chadha “is not a person of integrity or is not a fit and proper person to provide immigration assistance.”Chadha was first registered as an immigration agent in 2016. Videos still available on her former employer’s social media accounts show her promoting immigration services in English.“With years of immigration legal experience, and being an immigrant myself, I understand how difficult the immigration journey can be,” she says in one clip.In another letter, she warns applicants against submitting false documents, saying: “Stay honest and avoid future complications.”
Your integrity matters.”The consultancy, also known as Royal International Migration Consultants, states on its website that it has been operating since 2007 and helps thousands of people every year with student visa applications and more. The company itself has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
