IMPHAL, Manipur government has directed heads of various departments to take action against employees who remain absent at their offices without authorized leave during a five-day lockdown, called by women groups in the valley areas to protest against the recent bomb attack in which two children were killed.

Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel ordered that all administrative secretaries and department heads ensure attendance at their offices in view of calls for disruption or disruption issued by various groups.
“Attendance reports must be sent to the relevant administrative departments. Administrative action must be taken against those absent from work without authorized leave,” the order issued on Sunday said.
The government has asked all deputy commissioners to ensure the functioning of all offices in their areas.
The order was issued in the wake of the five-day lockdown from April 19, called by Meera Bibi groups in five districts of the Valley to protest the killing of two children at Trunglupi in Bishnupur on April 7.
The five districts of Imphal Valley comprise of East and West Imphal, Bishnupur, Kakching and Tenggopal.
A three-day lockdown was also called from Monday by the United Naga Council, an apex organization of Naga tribes in Manipur, in all Naga-inhabited areas in protest against the April 18 killing of two civilians in an ambush in Ukrul district.
Home Minister Govindas Kunthujam had on Sunday sought to scrap the five-day lockdown imposed by Mira Bybis and other organizations in protest against the Trunglupi bomb attack.
“We held talks with the joint action committee that was formed in relation to the Tronglupi incident and listened to their charter of demands,” he added.
“The hardships of the lockdown are being felt by everyone – children whose education has been disrupted, daily wage workers, farmers and businessmen. I want to appeal to the media to cancel the lockdown,” he added.
