Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday criticized the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Party and the Congress for not allowing legislation related to women’s reservation to be passed in Parliament.

Addressing an election rally in Vasudvanallur constituency near Tenkasi district in Tamil Nadu, Singh asserted that the NDA will definitely provide 33% for women.
In a sharp rhetorical jab at the DMK government, he asked voters to know what the DMK stands for.
“The letter D (in DMK) stands for Dushprayogam in Tamil (meaning abuse of power), the letter ‘M’ stands for Muraikedu (corruption) and the ‘K’ stands for Kutram (crime against women),” he said. “The DMK is referred to as such,” he said.
Appealing to the gathering to vote for BJP candidate Anandan Ayyasamy in the April 23 elections, Singh said the sacred tradition of lighting the Karthigai Deepam atop Thiruparankundram hill will start again if his party comes to power.
“The people of Tamil Nadu are loyal. If anyone tries to eliminate Sanatan Dharma, he will disappear from sight,” he said.
The minister alleged that the state government is depriving the followers of Lord Subramanya Swamy of their right to offer prayers at Thirupparankundram near Madurai. “The police arrested and arrested those who intended to set fire to Karthigai Deepam,” he said.
Singh asserted that after the formation of the AIADMK-led NDA government in Tamil Nadu, the new government will ensure resumption of the sacred tradition at Thirupparankundram. “This is the guarantee of the BJP government,” he said.
Later, at another rally in Radhapuram constituency, Singh said: “As Defense Minister, I must say that two defense corridors have been established in only two states: one in Uttar Pradesh and one in Tamil Nadu. There are only two such defense corridors in the country.”
Asking voters whether they remember ‘Operation Sindoor’, he said that during the military operation they did not cause any harm to civilians but anyone who tried to harm them would be targeted.
Appealing to voters to be patient, Singh said the BJP-led AIADMK would address all their ambitions once the government is formed in Tamil Nadu. “yet $6000 crores were saved to farmers every year. If our government takes office in Tamil Nadu, we will deliver $9,000 crore as subsidy annually to farmers in Tamil Nadu,” he said.
To empower women, a subsidy will be provided and during the festivals of Pongal, Deepavali and Tamil New Year, three new gas cylinders will be provided free of cost to the people of Tamil Nadu, he said.
