And he’s not the only one in his family – including ex-husbands – who has become a household name.
Hawke has been married and divorced over the years.
Here’s a look at its history — and where things stand today.
Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman
In 1996, Hawke met Uma Thurman while they were filming the 1997 film, Gattaca.
The two married on May 1, 1998.
Hawke and Thurman were an instant power duo, both being popular actors and being one of the biggest stars of the 1990s.
In 1998, they welcomed Maya Hawke — who is arguably as famous as her parents these days.

Unfortunately, the marriage did not last.
In 2003, Thurman and Hawke broke up.
Then in 2004, she filed for divorce.
It is widely believed that Hawke is cheating on Thurman, although she has repeatedly refused to slander her ex.
Amid “humiliating” tabloid scrutiny, they finalized their divorce in August 2005.
Ethan Hawke and Ryan Shawhouse
According to Ethan Hawke, he and Ryan Shawhouse began dating just a year after his divorce from Thurman.
Shawhughes is a graduate of Columbia University.
For a brief period, she worked as a nanny for Hawke and Thurman’s children.
(Yes, this sounds complicated!)
Hawke has publicly maintained that his divorce had nothing to do with Shohogue. As we said, complicated!
In June of 2008, Hawkeye and the Shohogs married.
The following month, they welcomed their first child as a couple, Clementine.
Then, in July of 2011, Shawhouse gave birth to their second daughter, Indiana.
This makes her the youngest of Hawke’s four children.
Together, Hawke and Shawhouse launched a production company: Under the Influence Productions.
Where are things today?
Ethan Hawke and Ryan Shawhouse – now Ryan Hawke – stick together a lot.
Their youngest daughters are teenagers. That’s how time works, you see.
Hawke and Thurman have received praise for their shared upbringing.
And as their children – especially Maya (no shade of Levon) – continue to stand out on their own, some of the younger fans are learning for the first time that they were once an item.
