A Rajasthan sub-judge, Karolyi, has been arrested in a corruption case after she was caught accepting a bribe $60,000 through its reader.
Kajal Meena was detained by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on April 16, along with two others. After a complaint was filed against her, Meena was found prima facie involved in an offense punishable under the Prevention of Corruption Act, news agency PTI reported.
She was suspended from work by the Personnel Department, which issued the order on Saturday.

Meena is a Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officer of the 2024 batch, the first in the ST category, according to a PTI report. She was posted as Assistant Collector (in training) at Tonk, and then as a sub-collector at Sohagpura, in Pratapgarh district.

The accused, her reader Dinesh Kumar Saini and his top aide Praveen Dhakad, were caught red-handed while accepting bribe. $60 thousand pounds to issue a final ruling in a land dispute.
Meena went on to pursue her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from IIT Mandi and then underwent field training as an IAS observer as an assistant collector in Tonk, Rajasthan. She was posted as sub-divisional officer, Sohagpura, in Pratapgarh district, prior to her posting in Karauli.
According to a report by The Indian Express, when asked why she wanted to move from a technical field to an administrative field, she said that the RAS is the premier service in the state and is considered prestigious, along with good salary and benefits. It further said that apart from this, an administrative official can “use his legitimate authority to bring about positive changes in the lives of the general public.”

ACB’s Sawai Madhopur unit received a complaint from a person, who claimed that he was harassed by Meena through her reader while demanding $$50,000 as a bribe,” Govind Gupta, director general of ACB, told Express.
Gupta said that initially, there was an amount $An amount of $1,00,000 was claimed, but later reduced to $50,000. The ACB verified the complaint, following which the Sawai Madhopur team laid a trap and arrested the accused during admission $60,000 – $50,000 for herself, and $10,000 per reader.
Officials also recovered a “suspicious” sum of money worth up to $100,000 $PTI reported that an amount of 4,000 pounds came from a bag the accused was carrying, and it is under investigation. A case was subsequently registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Meena was arrested.
