RuPaul has been crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar!
Season 18 of RuPaul’s Drag Race It has come to an end, and Mickie Mix has snatched the crown.
Heading into the finale on Friday night, Darlene Mitchell, Mickie Meeks and Nene Coco were named in the top three of the competition. Each artist performed their original song in the buildup episode, though it was Myki and Nini who RuPaul chose as Season 18’s top two queens.
Darlene was named second runner-up, and before exiting the stage to make room for the lip-sync, she jokingly turned back to RuPaul and asked, “Are you sure?”
But before RuPaul’s Drag Race The winner was named Mint, Jane Dunne, and she received the title of Miss Congeniality, voted on by the cast. Although she didn’t win Season 18, Jane Dunne was in the lead all season, and her elimination in Episode 13 came as a surprise. (She unpacks her luggage Drag racing period with THR here.)
Miley Cyrus was on hand to accept the Giving Us Lifetime Achievement Award, and the top two performing queens performed at Lip Sync for the Crown for her song “Every Girl You’ve Ever Loved.”
Both queens gave impressive performances, but it was Myki who ultimately won the lip sync, also earning her new title America’s Next Drag Superstar. Onya Norvi, the winner Drag racing Season 17, presented Mickey with the crown and scepter.
Hailing from Orlando, Florida, Myki was a dominant force throughout the Season 18 finale, winning consecutively the final three challenges of the installment. She has won a total of four challenges, joining a lucrative list of queens from Drag racing The universe that won four episodes of the series.
“This is for my friends, family, and all of Orlando, to live fiercely, love boldly, and write it in the books baby, the Mix will inherit the crown!” Myki said after clinching first place.
The Season 18 winner won a $200,000 cash prize and, for the first time, an official makeup collaboration with Anastasia Beverly Hills Cosmetics. During the finale, Darlene, Mikey, and Nene visited the makeup company’s headquarters, where they spoke with President Norvina about what their potential collaboration would look like.
