The GLAAD Media Award-nominated series, which debuts May 1, is part of a slate of new podcasts Netflix announced today including We are back! With Brian Williamstrue crime series Corrupt files From Stephanie Su, true crime series Allegedly Hosted by NBC News correspondent Ellison Barber and Puzzle Room with David Kwong.
Katz Shut up, Ivan It will air twice a week in different formats: “Deep in the DMs With…” will feature one-on-one chats on Tuesdays, and “The Groupchat” will find Katz sitting down on Fridays alongside a rotating panel of celebrity guests to recap the week’s top topics. 32 flavors are produced.
Katz quipped that it’s a stretch to call it an “honor” to partner with Netflix to expand its offering. “As an OG since the red envelope days, there’s no better place to call home,” he told Netflix. “They’ve helped turn a passion project where I once interviewed stars like Cole Escola in my studio apartment — using a microphone I’d forgotten to plug into my computer — into a full-fledged video podcast. They’ve helped expand the scope beyond the show’s signature in-depth interviews, adding a rotating panel of guests I can’t wait to meet, who will break down with me everything that’s happening across the world of pop culture — from TV and movies to memes, music, award shows and events — and maybe even the occasional opera or ballet.”
Katz emerged as a media darling after cutting his teeth as an entertainment journalist analyzing popular culture with a pointed style and sense of humor. Followers (and stars) love his funny recaps of movies, TV shows, and pop culture moments. His resume also includes podcasts that accompany series such as Return, love story, beauty and White lotus.
