Peacock has handed in a second season order for “The burps.”an extended reboot of the classic 1989 series starring Tom Hanks.

Its events take place in present-day American suburbs. “The burps.” It follows a young couple who reluctantly move into their husband’s childhood home. Their world is turned upside down when a new neighbor moves in across the street, bringing to light the old secrets of the cul-de-sac, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood, according to a synopsis from the producers.

The rookie season has eight episodes barbs, Which launched on February 8, the same day as the Super Bowl, had a top 10 debut over four weeks on Peacock.

“We are very happy that the audience loved the first season “The burps.” And we’ll be spending more time in Hinckley Hills with Kiki and the rest of this amazing crew. “A huge congratulations to all the writers, producers and crew who updated the beloved original film and created something so funny, warm and so contemporary,” Lisa Katz, president of scripted content at NBC and Peacock, said Monday in a statement.

The series, created, written and produced by Celeste Hughey, has been sold in more than 100 territories globally. The cast includes Jack Whitehall, Julia Duffy, Paula Bell, Mark Proksch and Kapil Talwalkar.

“The burps.” Palmer executive produces the series alongside Seth MacFarlane, Erika Huggins, Amy Carlson, Dana Olsen, Nzinga Stewart, Brian Grazer, Kristen Zoellner, Natalie Berkus, and Rachel Schuckert. Universal Studio Group’s UCP is producing the series.
