After several months of halting production, and naming a new product earlier this year, Mr. and Mrs. Smith Filming of its second season for Prime Video has begun.
The second season is being screened under the supervision of director and writer Anna Ouyang Munch (Beef, severance), who came aboard the series in January. She takes over from co-creator and first-season host Francesca Sloan, who in September 2025 signed an overall deal with HBO. At the same time, Mr. and Mrs. Smith Producers Amazon MGM Studios and New Regency have paused season two.
Talia Ryder (Dear No!, West Side Story(He will star opposite Mark Edelstein)Anura) in the second season. Ryder takes over from Sophie Thatcher (Yellow vests), who had long been linked to play Mrs. Smith, although sources indicated at the time of Munsch’s hiring that availability might become an issue.
Maya Erskine, who starred with co-creator Donald Glover in the first season, will serve as an executive producer in the second season, along with Moench, Glover, Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Stephen Glover, Anthony Katagas and Pham Odiorgi.
Story details are being kept under wraps for Season 2, though the show is expected to follow the outlines of Season 1, in which Glover and Erskine’s characters are hired by a mysterious spy agency to take on new identities and carry out missions around the world. Mr. and Mrs. Smith The film is loosely based on the 2005 film of the same name which starred Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
Season 2 will be based in Los Angeles, moving from New York. The show received a $22.4 million tax credit in March 2025 from the California Film Commission for filming in the state.
