A messy legal battle between David Geffen and his estranged husband, Donavan Michaels, over the fallout from their divorce has been settled.

Michaels’ lawyers notified the court in November of an agreement to resolve the case. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Geffen filed for divorce from Michaels last April, after less than two years of marriage, due to irreconcilable differences. Michaels immediately filed a lawsuit for breach of contract. Under a verbal agreement the two sides allegedly reached during their relationship, Michaels claimed he was told that the couple would share all of their earnings and property, and that he would receive financial support for the rest of his life. In exchange, he said he gave up his modeling career and agreed to take on most of the household duties, among other things.

According to the complaint, Geffen and Michaels, whose real name is David Armstrong, married in 2023 without prior agreement.

The lawsuit revealed intimate details about Geffen’s life. Michaels said the Mongols paid him $10,000 for sex the night they met after meeting on the dating site SeekingArrangements.com.

Once they were married, Geffen controlled most aspects of Michaels’ life and demanded “sexual contact at will,” the complaint said. The former go-go dancer also claimed he was provided with drugs and alcohol as “tools of coercion”, which required him to seek addiction treatment.

After their divorce, Michaels said he was denied the financial support he was promised.

Michaels is portrayed by Brian Friedman, while Geffen is portrayed by Patty Glaser. Both lawyers are considered legal heavyweights in Hollywood.

Geffen co-founded DreamWorks with Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg, as well as Asylum Records, Geffen Records, and DGC Records. His production company, Geffen Pictures, has produced a number of films and television shows, including… Beetlejuice, Interview with the Vampire and Little Shop of Horrors.
