Colette Watson takes over the top role in 2022 as the Canadian television giant expands into streaming and digital entertainment.

Colette Watson, president of Rogers Sports & Media, the $2 billion Canadian cable TV giant, is set to retire after 35 years with the company.
Watson will leave Rogers in mid-May, while serving in an advisory role until the fall of 2026. Sarah Schmidt, a spokeswoman for Rogers, said in a statement sent to Hollywood Reporter “Watson has helped shape everything from the content and lineup of channels to the policies that govern them. She has led Rogers Sports & Media to make blockbuster deals and significant investments to transform Rogers into a sports and entertainment powerhouse. We wish Colette all the best in her upcoming retirement.”
Rogers Sports & Media is a division of telecommunications and media giant Rogers Communications, which has wireless and cable television operations across Canada and owns the Toronto Blue Jays professional baseball club. She first joined Rogers in 1990 as head of the corporate office in Ottawa and continues to manage Rogers’ Community Television channel business and oversee programming affiliations and pay-per-view operations.
Rogers Sports & Media generates major revenue from its cable sports channel Sportsnet, where it has exclusive broadcast rights to National Hockey League games in Canada.
Besides recently renewing his NHL TV contract for another 12 years in hockey-mad Canada, Watson was behind Rogers’ multi-year content deal with NBCUniversal and Warner Bros. Television. Discovery for lifestyle channels like Bravo, Food Network, HGTV and Discovery.
