HBO is set to air an exclusive behind-the-scenes special Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stonean upcoming television adaptation of the Wizarding World books by J. K. Rowling.

Finding Harry: The Craft Behind Magic It offers “an in-depth look at the making of the first season” — the trailer for which broke HBO records last week — and will debut on Sunday, April 5 on HBO Max in the US, UK and Ireland.

A teaser for the episode was released on Thursday, featuring interviews with John Lithgow (who plays Dumbledore), Papa Essidu (Snape), and all the crew members involved in creating the big-budget project. The special is narrated by Hagrid actor Nick Frost, and also chronicles the search for Harry, Ron and Hermione, roles later passed to Dominic McLaughlin, Alistair Stout and Arabella Stanton.

“You’re waiting to do something forever that means a lot to people,” Lithgow says. “Just getting on the train and seeing it, you imagine yourself as a kid at Hogwarts,” Essiedu adds.

“It’s been 25 years since audiences first walked the hallowed halls of Hogwarts,” the plot synopsis reads. Now, this exclusive special offers an inside look at the epic scope and meticulous care behind HBO’s new show Harry Potter Series – told through the lens of the artists, craftsmen, and technicians who bring J. K. Rowling’s beloved books to life for a new generation.

“Featuring interviews with cast members, production design, costume design and creature effects, the film chronicles the intense work behind finding the new Harry, Ron and Hermione – while celebrating the incredible commitment to detail and immense talent that came together to populate this extraordinary world.”

After the first 48 hours, the trailer will be shown Harry Potter It reached more than 277 million organic views across platforms, making it the most-watched trailer in the history of HBO and HBO Max.

The first season of the multi-season series is set to follow Rowling’s first novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stoneand will be broadcast on the platform earlier than initially reported, in December of this year. Hollywood Reporter I looked at fan reaction to the trailer after it aired, which ranged from “cute” to “I cried three times.”
