The proposal was submitted as part of the Prime Minister’s e-drive plan for the Centre, which focuses on promoting green mobility and accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles. Officials believe the move will play a major role in improving the state’s EV ecosystem and address one of the biggest concerns for buyers: charging availability. At the city level, Jaipur will have the highest number of charging stations with 112, followed by Ajmer with 49, Udaipur with 39 and Kota with 28.

In addition, 34 charging stations will be set up along highways to support intercity travel. All installations will be carried out on lands owned by government departments, ensuring speedy project implementation.Authorities say expanding charging infrastructure will make long-distance electric vehicle travel more convenient while also improving access within cities. This initiative is expected to encourage more people to switch to electric cars, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and contribute to reducing carbon emissions in the region. Inputs from PTI.
