CBS cancels ‘Watson’ and ‘DMV’

Take it easy today with friends and acquaintances who love CBS Watson or DMV. CBS announced on Friday that it has canceled both shows after just two seasons and one season, respectively.

The network has cut ties with creator Craig Sweeney’s short-lived medical series based on the Sherlock Holmes novels and creator Dana Klein’s workplace comedy DMV as it recommits to shows including Marshals and George and Mandy’s first marriage.

WastonThe series finale will air on May 3 at 10pm ET/PT DMV It will conclude with a final episode on May 11 at 8:30pm ET/PT.

Starring Maurice Chestnut as Sherlock’s titular friend, Watson It follows the head of a medical clinic focusing on rare disorders, Dr. John Watson, as he navigates new medical mysteries after the death of his best friend, Sherlock Holmes.

The show is produced by CBS Studios and debuted in January 2025 on the network. After a strong opening, the show was renewed for a second season in March 2025. Schoraner Sweeney served as executive producer alongside Chestnut, Sally Patrick, Teng, Sharon Moallem, Brian Morowitz, and Aaron Kaplan. The Season 2 finale, “Wrongful Life,” had 3.1 million live-plus same-day viewers, according to Nielsen numbers.

DMV It starred Harriet Dyer, Tim Meadows, and Tony Cavalero as underpaid East Hollywood DMV workers who deal with office and personal dramas while communicating with customers who are too afraid to deal with their workplace. DMVThe episode “Test Drive” that aired on March 16 garnered 2.8 million viewers in its live broadcast.

The CBS Studios-produced show received a series order in April 2025 and a full season later that year. Klein served as showrunner and executive producer alongside Matt Cohn, Aaron Kaplan, Wendy Trilling, Robin Meisinger, and Trent O’Donnell.

The cancellation news arrives after CBS announced a slew of renewals for the 2026-2027 season. In addition Marshals and George and Mandy’s first marriageThe network has been renewed CIA, Tracker, Matlock, Elsbeth, Fire Country, NCIS, NCIS: Origins, NCIS Sydney, Boston Blue, Sheriff Country, FBI, Ghosts, Survivor and The Amazing Race.

CBS has also gotten the green light for two new series. Silicon Valley drama Cupertino from The good wife Creators Robert and Michelle King will see a lawyer (Mike Colter) take on the titans of Silicon Valley. Procedural Einstein From creator Andy Brickman, it will star Matthew Gray Gubler as the “smart but directionless” grandson of a famous physicist, who after a run-in with the law is forced to cooperate with a detective on her cases.
