The White House on Wednesday issued a stark warning to Iran, saying US President Donald Trump was prepared to “unleash hell” if Tehran refused to accept a deal to end the ongoing war in the Middle East.“President Trump is not bluffing, and he is ready to unleash hell,” White House press secretary Carolyn Leavitt said at a news conference. “Iran should not miscalculate again.” She added that any further escalation would be the result of Iran’s refusal to accept what it described as its military defeat.

“If Iran fails to accept the reality of the present moment, if it fails to understand that it has been defeated militarily and that it will continue to do so, President Trump will ensure that it will be hit harder than it has ever been hit before,” Levitt said.

It claimed that the US operations had significantly deteriorated Iran’s military capabilities, and described the campaign as “the largest naval liquidation operation in three weeks since World War II.” Referring to the ongoing military action, she said Operation Epic Fury was a “resounding military victory” and added that US forces were “very close to achieving the basic objectives” of the campaign. Regarding the possibility of further escalation, Levitt indicated that Trump would not seek authorization from Congress to deploy forces, noting that the United States is already engaged in “major combat operations in Iran.”

But she refused to provide details about the status of the negotiations, describing the matter as sensitive. She added: “I will not negotiate on behalf of the president here on the podium,” stressing that “fruitful talks” are continuing. Her statements come at a time when Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi categorically rejected any negotiations with the United States, saying that Tehran’s current strategy remains “continued resistance,” stressing that no formal negotiations have been conducted and that Iran does not see any reason to enter into a dialogue under the current circumstances. The statement came amid news of a 15-point American plan aimed at ending the conflict, which has entered its fourth week. Levitt acknowledged that there were “elements of truth” in these reports, although she cautioned that some details were “not entirely factual.” Efforts to mediate a ceasefire have intensified, with countries including Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt trying to mediate between the two sides. According to a Reuters report, a senior Iranian official said that Tehran is still reviewing the American proposal despite the initial negative response, noting that it has not been officially rejected.(With inputs from agencies)
