Under competitive conditions, Amazon MGM Studios acquired the rights to the film Romantic herothe upcoming novel by Kirsty Greenwood.
The book deal marks the first acquisition for Sullivan Street, the recently launched label from Jennifer Salke, the former Amazon MGM chief who moved into production last year. Salke will produce the film adaptation with Matt Milam, who runs film and television at The Shingle.
The pickup package also sees Peter Chiarelli, writing new Charlie Corners A Sony-specific feature, included with the text stylus for adaptation.
Greenwood, who lives in England, is a former book editor who turned to writing romantic comedies and has had success with “speculative romantic comedies,” that is, romantic stories with a fantasy side. The romantic hero is no exception. The story follows a heartbroken romance novelist who must confront her writer’s block when the infamous evil cowboy from her books suddenly appears in the real world, intent on rewriting his destiny and claiming his happily ever after.
Katie Sindon brought the project on board and will oversee Sullivan Street Productions.
