In a post on X, IndiGo informed passengers that flight operations in Dubai have been further restricted, resulting in adjustments in schedules. “Update: Due to the evolving situation in the Middle East, flight operations have been further restricted in Dubai, resulting in changes in flight schedules. Customers traveling to/from Dubai are requested to check the status of their flights before departing for the airport. “We are also sending notifications to keep customers informed of the latest updates,” the airline said.

Meanwhile, Air India said that on instructions from UAE airport authorities, both Air India and its subsidiary Air India Express have curtailed several flights scheduled for March 15.

According to the airline, Air India will operate only one return flight from Delhi to Dubai, while four of the five scheduled Dubai flights have been cancelled. Air India Express will also operate one return flight between Delhi and Dubai, with five out of six scheduled flights to Dubai cancelled.

In Abu Dhabi, all five Air India Express flights have been canceled for the day. However, the airline plans to continue operations from Sharjah with scheduled flights to Delhi, Kannur, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram.

Additionally, Air India Express said it will operate Ras Al Khaimah-Kozhikode and Ras Al Khaimah-Kochi services, subject to availability of slots and prevailing operating conditions.

Passengers affected by the cancellation were given the option to rebook to a future date at no additional charge or choose a full refund. The airline expressed its regret for the inconvenience caused and said it remains committed to returning stranded passengers home as soon as possible.

These developments come amid widespread disruptions in the aviation sector due to the emerging West Asia crisis, which has also led to a sharp rise in aviation turbine fuel prices.

Several airlines, including IndiGo, Air India and Akasa Air, have introduced fuel surcharges on domestic and international routes to offset higher operating costs associated with rising fuel prices.
