Finneas O’Connell will record season two for Netflix meatthe streamer and studio for the anthology series A24, were jointly announced on Thursday.
“I’ve spent the last 12 months in… meat land. “All eight episodes released on April 16 all have original music composed by me,” O’Connell said in a statement. “So grateful to Sony for including me, and so grateful for the amazing performances from the entire cast; I probably watched each scene 100 times while recording the show and felt it every time. A true fan of this show, I am so honored and proud to be a part of it.
“Sony” here refers to meat Creator and director Lee Sung Jin, also known as Sonny Lee.
O’Connell is, of course, an extremely accomplished singer, songwriter, producer and composer, with two Oscars and 11 Grammys already under his belt. To Billie Eilish, he’s also the big brother (and regular collaborator).
“Finneas is the brilliant mind behind most of the music that has contributed to my personal life over the past decade, so it is an absolute honor to collaborate with him on the new season,” Lee Sung Jin said in a statement of his own. “He has an amazing ability to make the darkest emotions seem so beautiful, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear what he’s cooking.”
meat Season 2 sees newly engaged couple Ashley Miller (Cailee Spaeny) and Austin Davis (Charles Melton), both low-level employees at a country club, “become involved in the disintegrating marriage between their general manager…and his wife,” as the season 2 synopsis states. That would be Joshua Martin (Oscar Isaac) and Lindsey Crane Martin (Carey Mulligan), respectively.
The description continues: “Through favors and coercion, both spouses vie for the approval of the elite club’s billionaire owner, President Park (Yoon Yuh-jung), who is struggling to manage a scandal of her own involving her second husband, Dr. Kim (Song Kang-ho).”
Seoyeon Jang also stars in the second season with William Fichtner, Mikaela Hoover, and Korean rapper BM.
Season one stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong and season two stars Mulligan, Isaac, Milton, and Spaeny executive produce alongside Lee Seung-jin, director Jake Schreier, Anna Munsch, Kitao Sakurai, and Ethan Kuperberg.
All eight A24 episodes meat Season 2 will be released on April 16, 2026 on Netflix, but Phineas has already said that.
