Monalisa Bhonsle, the ‘Prayagraj Kumbhemela girl’, arrived at the police station in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, seeking protection from her father, alleging that he was trying to force her back to her hometown, Indore. She is currently in Kerala shooting for a film and reportedly wants to marry her boyfriend.

According to police, Monalisa and her boyfriend, a native of Uttar Pradesh, arrived at Thambanur police station, accompanied by film crew members, claiming that her father was trying to take her back against her will, PTI reported.

“She insisted that she would not go with her father and made it clear that she would marry her boyfriend. Since she is a major, she can act as per her choice,” a police officer said.

She later left with her boyfriend and crew members, the officer said, adding that the couple informed them that they would get married as soon as possible in Kerala itself. Her father has reportedly returned to his hometown.

From Kumbh to Bollywood: The Mona Lisa Story

Last year, during Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Monalisa created an internet sensation when a content creator posted a clip of her on Instagram. Her striking looks and eyes had people talking about her all over social media, and she quickly became a crowd favorite at the Kumbh with thousands waiting to take a selfie with her.

Her fame on social media did not end there. Director Sanoj Mishra met her and offered her a role in his next film Manipur Diarieswhich is scheduled for release in April, according to IMDb.

The girl, who traveled from Indore to Prayagraj to sell garlands and earn a living, unexpectedly bagged a lead role in a Bollywood film. She later returned to Indore to undergo acting training before heading to Mumbai. Although her accent is still a challenge as an actor, she has adapted well on set, Mishra said, adding that her innocence is what sets her apart.
