Two boys – aged 10 and 12 – allegedly raped a nine-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district. The incident took place under Sikandra Rao police station area around 2 pm, police told news agency PTI on Saturday.
The minor victim, a fourth-grade student, reportedly went to a forest near her village on Friday to collect fodder. The boys then lured her to a wheat field under the pretext of berries, according to police.
“As soon as he entered the field, the 10-year-old boy grabbed the girl while the 12-year-old raped her,” the agency reported, citing the police report in this regard, which was based on the mother’s testimony.
“The victim and the accused are minors. We have started an investigation into the matter,” Circle Officer JN Asthana told PTI. Both the accused and the victim are residents of the same village, the Times Of India reported.
On returning home, the victim narrated her ordeal to her family, following which they lodged a formal complaint with the cops at Sikandra Rao police station.
“A case has been registered against the two aforementioned juveniles under Section 70-1 and 5/6 of the POCSO Act at BNS. The girl underwent a medical examination,” the station officer said. The SHO further said that the accused were taken into custody late on Saturday and produced before a judge who sent them to a juvenile home in Hathras.
In another such incident in Bilaspur district of Himachal, a five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 15-year-old boy. The incident occurred on Friday.
The minor boy allegedly took the little girl to the fields and raped her, police said. As the news spread, a crowd of people gathered and vandalized the accused’s house.
The police arrested the accused on Saturday and detained him under relevant sections of the POCSO Act.
