Ahmedabad, Sanatan Dharma promotes social harmony and unity, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Thursday, while asserting that discrimination in the name of caste is detrimental to religion and society.
In a speech at the Swaminarayan temple in Gitalpur village near here, he said that every creation of God has a purpose and a sense of belonging towards everyone is the essence of social harmony.
“In God’s creation, even a piece of dry grass has a purpose. Embracing every person with such feeling and feeling of belonging in the heart is called social harmony. Everyone is God’s creation,” he said.
He added, “Where did the distinction between high and low come from? Class and caste systems may have existed, but that was not intended as discrimination. When discrimination enters into such a system, it harms religion and society.”

We cannot avoid this; we will have to do it sooner or later. The world does not have answers to its problems. We will have to be ready for this responsibility,” Bhagwat asserted.
He said that religion unites, so one must be united and never divide, adding, “We must unite everyone.”
