'Padayaatra' wraps up its 40-day shoot: Mammootty and Adoor Gopalakrishnan reunite after 33 years

Mammootty and Adoor Gopalakrishnan have completed the shooting of their upcoming film ‘Padayaatra’ in a single schedule of 40 days. This marks a reunion after more than three decades. The film, set in the socially and politically charged state of Kerala in the 1970s and 1980s, is expected to be a realistic drama. Its release will come after Mammootty’s other major project, ‘Patriot’.

The shooting of Padayaatra, the much-awaited collaboration between Mammootty and legendary director Adoor Gopalakrishnan, has officially wrapped. The makers have packed the entire film into a single 40-day schedule, starting from January 23 and completing it without any interruption.

Mammootty confirms the wrap with the snap crew

Announcing the completion, Mammootty shared a picture with the crew on his social media accounts. His caption read: “#Padayaatra PACK UP!!!”The post was quickly filled with fan comments. One user wrote: “Next award winning film.. all the best.” Another commented: “Waiting for the classic movie… again who do I turn to, sir and Mamuka.” A third user wrote: “Best wishes to the film and the team behind it.” Many people wished him success, including one commenting: “All the best and good luck Valletta.”

Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Mammootty meet after decades

Adoor Gopalakrishnan last directed Mammootty over three decades ago, and reports say the film is set during the 1970s and 1980s, a period rich with social and political transformations in Kerala. It is expected that the film will be rooted in realism, which is the specialty of Adore’s films, and is also what his fans hope for. ‘Padayaatra’ marks Mammootty’s eighth production venture and the script is jointly written by Adoor Gopalakrishnan and K.
