Actor Delroy Lindo has broken his silence on the Bafta controversy as the N-word was heard from the audience over the tics of one of Tourette’s lawyers. Speaking at the NAACP Image Awards, Lindo expressed his gratitude for the support given to him and Michael B. Jordan in the wake of the incident. His film “Sinners” also received great appreciation at the event.
Last week at the BAFTA Awards, when Delroy Lindo and Michael B. Jordan took the stage to announce the award, insulting words could be heard from the audience. It was Tourette’s attorney John Davidson who said the slur lives on due to tics beyond his control.
While he issued a statement on the matter, both representatives of ‘Sinners’ remained mum on the matter. Now, a week later, Lindo is making his views clear on the matter.
Delroy lindo addresses BAFTA defamation Controversy
While attending the 2026 NAACP Image Awards at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Saturday night, the actor presented an award with Sinners director Ryan Coogler. During the clip, he briefly addressed the BAFTA incident that occurred last week and sparked a lot of buzz and contentious discussion online, The Wrap reported.
The Baftas were rocked by shocking slurs on stage, with host Alan Cumming issuing an apology with an ‘I swear’ statement.
“I appreciate all the support and love we’ve shown in the wake of what happened last weekend. It means a lot to us. It’s an honor to be here this evening,” he stated at the awards ceremony.Meanwhile, Sinners was a hit at the NAACP Awards as well, with Lindo taking home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his work in the vampire-themed film. At the awards ceremony, actress Regina Hall also addressed Lindo and Jordan’s presence at the awards ceremony.
As she came on stage to present an award for the night, she took a moment to honor the actors. She said at the time: “Take a minute for the two kings in the audience. Sending you so much love to your class.”
