Bahrain arrested two people for broadcasting content on social media considered harmful to public order/representative image
The Bahraini Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of two people, aged 27 and 37, on charges of misusing social media, noting that the content they published constitutes a legal violation and is likely to harm security and public order. The ministry said in an official statement that the arrests were carried out by the Anti-Cybercrime Directorate of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security. It was found that the suspects live-streamed and recorded videos, which were later posted on their personal social media accounts. According to the authorities, the manner in which the materials were presented constituted a violation of the law.
The statement indicated that the content may affect security and public order and raise public opinion, prompting the relevant administration to take immediate action. The Ministry renewed its commitment to monitoring and addressing violations related to electronic platforms, especially content that may threaten public stability. She stressed that there are legal frameworks to regulate digital behavior, and the necessary measures will be taken against those proven to have violated it. The Directorate confirmed that legal procedures are being completed to refer the accused to the Public Prosecution. The case will be pursued in accordance with applicable laws once the referral process is complete.
