The Lamborghini involved in the high-profile road accident in Kanpur earlier this month has been released on bail of $8.5 crore has been furnished.

The luxury car collided with a rickshaw and a motorcycle before crashing into a pole, injuring six people. The car was released after the court ordered sureties equivalent to its value, after which the bail amount was deposited and the car was delivered late last night, news agency ANI reported.

Explaining the process, the lawyer representing the accused, Shivam Mishra, said that the court ordered the release of the seized car after requesting personal guarantees and a guarantee matching the value of the Lamborghini. The matter was reported to the police station, and the car was released after compliance.
Earlier, the courts in Kanpur rejected a petition filed by a man claiming to be the driver at the time of the accident, even as requests were made for the vehicle to be released. The court was told that the man was not named and was not wanted in the case, and that the investigation was pointing to Shivam Mishra, HT reported earlier.

Police later said there was no need for further questioning of Shivam Mishra, stating that all necessary interrogations had been completed at the time of his arrest and that documents related to the Lamborghini had been submitted. Officers said the investigation is ongoing and a chargesheet will be filed after collecting evidence, according to PTI.
Mishra was arrested and granted bail within hours and the court noted that the sections relied upon were bailable and directed him to cooperate with the investigation. He was asked to provide a bond and pledge $20,000 each as part of their bail conditions, according to an earlier HT report.

The incident, which took place on VIP Road in Kanpur, attracted widespread attention due to the sequence of legal developments, including high-value bonds that eventually led to the launch of the luxury vehicle.
