Zootopia 2 It continues to make history at the box office.
On Tuesday, the hit Disney Animation Studios film passed Minecraft movie ($423.9 million) to rank as the highest-grossing domestic release of 2025 with ticket sales of $424.2 million. The Oscar-nominated picture was already the highest-grossing Hollywood title of the year at both the global and international box office, animated or otherwise.
That’s not all. The latest highlight caps one of the most surprising and fascinating events in the history of the genre. When Part 2 opened on Thanksgiving, no one could have predicted that it would become the highest-grossing animated film of all time, not adjusted for inflation. As of Tuesday, the film’s global revenues had reached about $1.85 billion.
The sequel grossed a record $559.5 million worldwide over the five days of Thanksgiving, the biggest animated opening in history for the genre on its way to becoming the fastest animated or PG film ever to reach $1 billion, a task it completed in 17 days.
Zootopia 2 It has remained in the top 10 domestically for 13 straight weeks — even after debuting on PVOD two or so weeks ago.
It is the first Hollywood film in recent memory to do huge business in China, where it has earned more than $650 billion to become the highest-grossing Western film of all time, surpassing Avengers: Endgame. It also broke records in other markets around the world.
To boot, it ranks eighth on the list of highest-grossing Hollywood films of all time, unadjusted.
With the exception of China, Zootopia 2 It has surpassed the original’s worldwide gross Zootopiawhich reached $1.025 billion after its issuance in 2016.
