Priyanka described the period as “difficult”, admitting that it was very difficult for her. She described Malti as a “miracle child” and added that at that time she was her only hope of having a child.

“We kind of had to announce her birth.”
Speaking on Jay Shetty’s podcast, Priyanka revealed that she and Nick put everything on hold for about three months and visited their daughter every day.
Amidst emotional turmoil and constant visits to the hospital, news of Malti’s birth leaked to the media.Recalling that moment, she said: “We got a text saying that her (Maltese’s) birth was going to be in the papers, and if we didn’t, it would be in three hours. So we kind of had to announce her birth because we wanted to control our narrative. We weren’t prepared. We didn’t know what was going to happen with her or what she was going to be like.”
“I was completely shut down,” she says of the 27-week birth.
Priyanka also shared that when she was told that Malti would be born in week 27, she completely “shut down” herself. She recalled sitting in front of the fireplace in her home for nearly nine hours, unable to comprehend the situation.As someone who considers herself solutions-oriented, she said she didn’t have a single idea at that moment.The actress revealed that Malti was purple in color when she was born and needed immediate care in the neonatal intensive care unit.
She recalled how fragile her daughter was, saying the nurses’ fingers were too big for her small mouth. During that time, she felt “numb” and didn’t know what to do or how to help.

“This was the first time I cried from gratitude.”
Talking about the emotional turning point, Priyanka said, “We have a big mandir in our house with a big Shiv Ji Murti. As a family, we sat in front of it, and that was the first time I cried, not out of fear, but out of gratitude. Gratitude that she survived, that she was home, that she chose us, that we were able to make it happen. IVF is tough.” Priyanka and Nick tied the knot in two ceremonies held on December 1 and 2, 2018, in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
