Psychological thriller ‘Hijack’ and ‘Lupin’ goes to BritBox in the US and Canada

BritBox has struck a deal to take on the upcoming psychological thriller series gold From George Kay, the creator and writer behind Proverbs to kidnap, Long shadow and Lupinefor the United States and Canada. Drama star David MorrisseySherwood) and Eve Miles (Keep the faith).

All3Media unveiled the deal on Wednesday as part of a raft of pre-sales during London TV Week in the British capital.

The six-part series, set to premiere in the UK on ITV this spring, focuses on the disappearance of Sarah Polley, as suspicions grow around her husband, the local headmaster Michael, played by Morrissey. “Michael, ostensibly respectable and obsessively organized, finds his carefully controlled world crumbling when he encounters Detective Annie Cassidy, played by Eve Miles,” the film’s synopsis reads. “What follows is an intense psychological duel, as Annie turns away from Michael’s exterior in a tense game of cat and mouse that threatens to reveal what lies beneath.”

Beyond the central mystery, gold It also delves into themes of trauma, trust, and the long shadow cast by elite institutions.

Kay created the drama and is writing it with Richard Laxton (Mrs. Wilson, The thief, his wife, and the boat) guidance. The cast also includes Jennifer Macbeth, Arthur Hughes, Nicholas Nunn, Elliot Cowan, Billy Barratt, Rupert Evans, Judy Macnee, Oscar Batterham and Claire Higgins.

The show is produced by New Pictures (Long shadow) is a collaboration with Kay’s Observatory Pictures, and is partly inspired by the book To hunt down the killer and the real-life work of former Detective Superintendent Julie McKay and ITV crime reporter Robert Murphy, who both act as consultants on the series.

Other pre-sales for the upcoming series include top broadcast networks and streaming services in Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Europe.
