Police responded to a domestic violence call at his home.
Unfortunately, the authorities’ hands seem to be tied in dealing with it.

At approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, police received a call reporting a domestic violence beating at Ray J’s residence in Los Angeles.
Notably, the R&B singer and songwriter is no The accused offender.
The alleged assailant is said to be his former partner.
TMZThe report did not identify the woman, only describing her as a 30-year-old woman – who appeared to be of Persian origin. (Another detail is that she was wearing yellow)
Unfortunately, as happens with so many domestic violence calls, responding leads hit a dead end.
Neither side was willing to talk to the authorities.
There are specific circumstances – such as when there is a cooperating witness or clear physical evidence of the assault – when police can arrest the assailant even if the victim is unwilling to cooperate.
(However, bringing them to trial can be much more difficult, and this is a small part of how the vast majority of abusers never face justice.)
In this case, they had no cooperating victim, no cooperating witness, and apparently no other evidence. The police were unable to arrest him, and it appears that they did not receive any report.
Who invited him?
It is unclear who contacted the authorities.
As we know from many ordinary examples and also from some incidents with public figures, sometimes victims contact the police to report domestic violence, but they refuse to assist in the investigation.
(Jenelle Evans, who called 911 for her disgraced ex-husband, David Eason, comes to mind, claiming a broken collarbone — only to remain married to him for years afterward.)
A third party may also have made the call, but was unable or unwilling to cooperate with authorities.
(We see this happen sometimes with employees, but also with neighbors or even family.)

In November of 2025, authorities arrested Ray J after an argument with his estranged wife, Princess Love.
This argument was broadcast live.
As a result, viewers saw him pull out a gun during the struggle.
The singer-songwriter denied pointing the gun at her.
Guns are dangerous for many reasons. The possibility of it being used to threaten or harm impulsively to such a disastrous degree is one of them.
Fortunately, the latest incident does not appear to involve a firearm.
