Tom Hanks is set to face Honest Abe.
The Oscar-winning artist will play the role of former President Abraham Lincoln Lincoln in Bardoan adaptation of author George Saunders’s 2017 best-selling novel.
Duke Johnson is directing the film, which is a mix of live-action and stop-motion animation and hails from Starburns Industries. Hanks will appear as a live-action version of the 16th US president for the film, which is currently in production in London.
Johnson, who co-directed the 2015 Oscar-nominated animated film abnormality,helmets Lincoln in Bardo From Saunders’ text. Lincoln’s cool The film revolves around Lincoln’s relationship with his recently deceased 11-year-old son, Willie Lincoln.
Producers include Hanks and Gary Goetzman for Playtone, along with Johnson, Paul Young and Devon Young-Rabinowitz for Starburns Industries. Saunders, Stephen Charchian and Aaron Mitchell executive produce. Saunders’s acclaimed novel won the 2017 Booker Prize.
Hanks’ recent features include: Phoenician plan, here and Freaky tales. He reprises his voice role as Pixar’s cowboy Woody Toy Story 5scheduled for release this summer from Disney, also stars in director Aaron Schneider’s upcoming World War II drama Saluki 2.
Lincoln’s legacy has remained at the forefront of popular culture in recent years. Hamish Linklater stars as Commander-in-Chief in the 2024 Apple TV+ series chaseDuring a Broadway play Oh Mary!a comedic examination of a politician’s personal life, won several Tony Awards last year.
Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor for his role in the 2012 Steven Spielberg biopic Lincoln.
Hanks is repped by CAA and Greenberg Glusker.
