Senior BJP leader Tarun Chugh on Monday demanded the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to conduct a probe into the killing of two Punjab Police personnel at a police station near the International Border in Gurdaspur district.

Expressing sadness over the incident, Chugh said the sacrifices of the policemen would not be in vain and the nation stands with their families.
He described the incident as a serious attack on the security framework of a border state.
Pointing out the proximity of the police post to the Indo-Pak border and possible cross-border links, he said the matter should not be limited to a state-level investigation and required a comprehensive investigation from a national security perspective.
Chugh claimed that the incident reflects the failure of the state’s security system and targeted the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
He referred to recent threats to bomb a police station in Amritsar and more than a dozen grenade attacks on police institutions across Punjab, including the police headquarters in Mohali.
He also cited concerns over criminal gangs operating from high-security prisons and the alleged cross-border smuggling of arms and drugs via drones, alleging that law and order in the state had weakened in recent years.
Chugh questioned the performance of the intelligence system in the state and said that recurring gang wars, organized crime and the revival of cross-border terror units indicate a fragile internal security structure.
Holding Chow Man responsible for the situation, he demanded his resignation from the post of Home Minister, alleging that administrative laxity had emboldened anti-social elements and endangered the stability of Punjab.
