RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said the Sangh does not practice Hindutva politics, but believes in building a strong society and nation through individual development.

“The goal of the Sangh is individual development because only strong individuals can build a strong society and nation,” Bhagwat said at a program marking the 100th anniversary of the Sangh on Sunday, stressing that the reality of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) cannot be understood from outside.
Some people think of the Sangh as a paramilitary organisation, others as a service sector body, but the RSS is a social force that works outside these boundaries, he said, speaking on the theme ‘Sangh Yatra – New Horizons, New Dimensions’.
“The world now hopes to see India in a leadership role again,” Bhagwat said and called on the gathering to empower the community and the nation by joining Sangh activities.
Pointing out that only those who work for unity are Hindus, he said: “Devotion to the motherland is essential. The world understands power more than truth; therefore, having power is necessary, but its use must be restricted.”
Regarding the role of women, Bhagwat said that they are completely independent and their participation in governance should be 50 percent, not limited to 33 percent.
He also stressed the need for coordinated policy and local participation to conserve Uttarakhand’s rivers and environment.
