Watch: PM Modi takes metro after being stopped on Namu Bharat Express Rail Corridor; Interacts with students

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took a metro ride from Shatabdi Nagar to Meerut South Station. During the journey he interacted with students, passengers and officials till Meerut.The journey followed disembarkation from the Meerut Metro and Namu Bharat train at Shatabdi Nagar Namu Bharat station in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The Prime Minister also flagged off the remaining sections of the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).

The launch represents a major boost to regional connectivity between Delhi and Meerut.Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP president and Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary, along with senior officials, were present on the occasion and accompanied the Prime Minister.Besides transport projects, the Prime Minister is also set to inaugurate several development works worth around Rs 12,930 crore in Meerut. These projects cover multiple sectors and aim to strengthen infrastructure and improve public services in the region.Prime Minister Modi is also scheduled to address a public gathering in Meerut later in the day, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The launch of Meerut Metro and expanded Namu Bharat services is seen as an important step towards enhancing urban mobility and regional connectivity in western Uttar Pradesh.The 82-km Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor includes a 5-km stretch between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi, and a 21-km stretch between Meerut South and Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh.The trains are designed to operate at speeds of up to 180 kilometers per hour, making them among the fastest trains in the country. The corridor aims to provide faster and smoother travel between Delhi and major urban centers like Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar and Meerut.
