The Power Ministry on Thursday set up a high-level committee to monitor the progress on the merger of Power Finance Corporation (PFC) and Rural Electrification Corporation (REC). It has also set up a three-member working group to look into the modalities of the merger.

The working group is headed by the Director (Distribution), Ministry of Power, with the Executive Directors of the two organizations as members.

It is responsible for studying and making recommendations on personnel and technology integration, corporate and functional restructuring, coordination of stakeholders’ interests and any other matters related to the merger process.

The high-level committee will be convened by the Ministry’s Joint Secretary (Distribution), with PFC and REC Chairman and MDs as members.

As per the office order, the high level committee receives regular progress reports from the working group and meets once a week to review various issues for smooth merger of the two entities.
