As a former pirate who must come to terms with her past when a gang of bloodthirsty pirates invades her island, Priyanka’s Ercel wields a sword and a gun with equal ease, taking down bad guys with precision, and seems well-prepared for whatever bloody showdowns await her, including the big showdown with Captain Connor (Karl Urban).
When the first trailer of the film was released, fans’ comments couldn’t help but gush about Priyanka and Karl’s stellar personalities from their respective shows, Quantico and Boys. A cheeky comment read: “The Butcher is stalking Alex Parrish.”

The trickThe star reveals that Priyanka, which she co-produced alongside the Russo Brothers, was shot over two-and-a-half months in Australia after many weeks of rehearsal. “It was definitely a very physically demanding role. It required a lot of agility from me, and because it was a dramatic performance, I also needed my face in the camera because the story was still moving forward,” she says.
Priyanka says that filming large-scale stunts required a lot of focus and work. “You can get hurt very easily,” she smiles. “For example, the house we shot was very small. It had furniture, cameras and a crew. There were a lot of bruises and splinters, but nothing serious, thank God.”
In the film, Priyanka escapes from pirates with her family: her sister-in-law and her young son. During the film’s initial ambush, the actress, her clothes soaked in blood and holding a gun, instantly goes from fierce to comforting as she reassures her terrified son. “I’m so glad you found that out,” she says. “I may be fighting people, but I’m still talking to my son. I may be fighting people, but I’m still thinking about where the next person is. It wasn’t just about the slow-motion sequence; it was real. This required a lot of me as an actor, and of course I love the challenge of that,” she says.
