NEW DELHI, A comprehensive compendium on Indian naval and maritime industry capabilities, aimed at providing structural visibility of domestic industrial capabilities and facilitating stronger integration between services and domestic manufacturing ecosystems, was released on Friday.

“The release of Joint Services Guidelines on Common Information Model for Integrated Data Management of Combat Systems and Sensors marks a significant milestone towards standardization, interoperability and seamless digital exchange of technical and quality data between stakeholders,” the ministry said.

Addresses by Indian Navy Vice Admiral B Shivakumar and other senior dignitaries highlighted the evolving nature of defense manufacturing in India and the need for quality assurance systems to keep pace with technological advancements, modular construction practices, integrated warfare systems and network-centric operations.

Speakers emphasized that quality assurance is no longer a terminal activity, but a continuous, technology-enabled process embedded throughout design, manufacturing, testing and lifecycle support.

The importance of aligning QA procedures with the national vision of self-reliant India and building a trust-based compliance environment for competent industry partners was also highlighted, it said.
