While the immediate targets may be celebrities, FWICE noted the impact goes beyond the public eye. In addition to other professionals, the federation represents backstage crew, artists, technicians and daily wage workers.

As security concerns continue to mount across the state’s entertainment industry, the Federation of Western India Cinema Employees (FWICE) has sought an urgent meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the growing threats to film stars. FWICE has written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, seeking an urgent meeting to discuss the dire situation, with several celebrities facing death threats and security fears.
What did FWICE write in the letter to the Prime Minister?
In its letter, the film workers’ organization noted the growing fear-mongering environment in the business. “In recent days, a number of prominent and renowned figures from the film, television and digital media industry have reportedly received threats and are exposed to serious security fears,” the letter said.
For those working in the industry, the organization has warned that such repeated incidents, directly or indirectly, will raise serious questions about the adequacy of the current security framework.

According to FWICE, while high-profile actors are immediate targets, the ripple effect goes beyond the people who get attention. Artists, technicians, daily wage workers, backstage workers and other skilled and unskilled professionals are all represented by the federation. It said thousands of people whose livelihoods depend on continuous production schedules are directly affected by any disruption involving well-known individuals.
“The prevailing climate of fear has begun to affect shooting schedules, production planning and the overall morale of the industry,” the organization wrote, highlighting how the situation is affecting routine operations across sets and studios.
Ayush Sharma received a threatening email
Salman Khan’s sister Arpita Khan’s husband and actor Aayush Sharma recently received a threatening email. Aayush’s case follows similar threats to actor Ranveer Singh. A threatening voice message demanding several crores of rupees was sent to Durainakshatra via WhatsApp.
