Kauvery Hospital, has introduced a beating heart coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery programme using the fourth-generation da-Vinci robotic surgical system, expanding its advanced cardiac care services.

The minimally invasive procedure allows surgeons to perform coronary bypass surgery through small keyhole incisions without stopping the heart or using a heart-lung machine. This approach can reduce surgical trauma and supports faster recovery in patients with coronary artery disease.

The programme is led by Arunkumar Krishnasamy, senior consultant cardiothoracic and robotic cardiac surgeon, along with a multidisciplinary team of cardiac anaesthesiologists, surgeons, perfusionists and critical care specialists.

The robotic system offers high-definition three-dimensional visualisation and improved instrument precision, enabling better access to narrow areas of the chest. Studies have shown that robotic-assisted off-pump CABG can reduce blood loss, post-operative pain, ICU stay, and the risk of wound-related complications, while improving recovery and cosmetic outcomes.
